An update on the Wrestlingworth Goodwill Fund:

 

Summer Fete, Saturday 5th September

Thank you to everyone who supported the Summer Fete and Raffle, we raised a fantastic £1,900 for Goodwill funds.

 

After Autumn showers had arrived early in August we were blessed with lovely warm and sunny weather for the day of the fete.  Sandy Ukulele band kicked off the entertainment in the central ring followed by the popular Dog Show and then children’s Tug of War which was won by “Confused.com 3.0”.  We had a large number of sideshows on offer again this year, from Water and Wine, Smash the China, Face Painting, and local businesses such as 3D printing, dog treats, local honey and crochet items.

 

The Chequers kindly opened up their beer garden for seating for the ever popular tea and cake stall, and this year the cake and art competitions were on display in that area.  Competitions standards were very high this year, so well deserved congratulations to our competition winners:

 

- Best Decorated Cake - Zoe Bruce (winner), Loz Lock (runner up)

- Best Traybake - Zoe Bruce

- Best Scones - Wendy Robinson

- Best Decorated Cupcakes 13-18s - Mia Johnson

 

- Art Competition (under 10) - Willow

- Art Competition (over 10) - Ivy Balch

 

A huge thank you to all the Friends of Goodwill and local businesses who supported us with putting on the Goodwill Summer Fete and generously providing so many raffle prizes.  See the separate thank you note in this issue.

 

Big Breakfast, Sunday 18th October

We will once again be running the Big Breakfast event in the Wrestlingworth Memorial Hall on the morning of Sunday 18th October from 9-12am.  Please do join us, whether it’s for a full cooked breakfast, bacon or sausage roll, cereal, toast or pancakes, or maybe a bit of everything!

 

Goodwill ‘Ambulance’ Service

A reminder that we continue to operate the ‘Ambulance’ service, providing transport to doctors or hospital appointments for residents of Tadlow, Eyeworth, Wrestlingworth and Cockayne Hatley.  If you need transport please contact Margaret Pantry (details in the back page of the VLM) with as much notice as possible.  We are hugely indebted to our volunteer drivers who deliver this service, but more drivers are always welcome, so if you are able to join our roster then please do get in touch.   Drivers receive reimbursement for mileage from Goodwill.  Users of the service pay for any car parking or milage above our maximum amount.
